For four days this summer, when queer film enthusiasts gather for Frameline30: the 30th anniversay of San Francisco's International LGBT Film Festival, professionals in the queer film industry will have a unique opportunity to gather as well at Persistent Vision 2006: Envisioning the future of queer media arts. Taking its cue from the hugely successful Persistent Vision 2001, the conference will bring together an international array of queer filmmakers, producers, theorists and distributors to chart the future of queer media arts.
This conference will be a time for LGBT media-makers, programmers, distributors and others to discuss the state of the field and to chart what lies ahead for LGBT media arts. With the success of Brokeback Mountain, The L Word and Transamerica having thrust LGBTs into the mainstream, the time is ripe to ask ourselves: Where are we? Whose images are not being seen? What are our next challenges?
Frameline invites you to be part of this discussion. Register below for the conference. And check back often for a lively blog conversation on the state of queer cinema and what you want to get out of the conference. Also posted here will be conference program details as we have them. Just think of this site as Persistent Vision Central!
